Student Profile
We serve youth ages 13 to 17, young adults 18 to 20, and families, schools and communities throughout the United States that are at-risk of academic failure, dropping out of school, delinquency or becoming chronic offenders.At-Risk Youth & Young Adults
A typical student may be experiencing one or more of the following:
- Truancy
- Family conflict
- Low self-esteem or self-image
- Poor decision-making
- Lack of responsibility for own behavior
- Risky behavior, i.e. experimenting with drugs or alcohol, gang related behavior, lying or stealing
- Difficulty communicating
- Low motivation, lack of confidence
- Poor academic/job performance
Committed Delinquent Youth
Discovery also services male and female delinquent youth ages 12 to 18 committed by the court throughout Florida and South Carolina. Students have committed offenses ranging from first and second-degree misdemeanors to third degree felonies, with patterns of offending that are infrequent and non-violent. Students must be in good physical health, not in need of specialized overlay services and assessed as low risk to public safety.
